Tube Side Table

1971, Norway

The Tube side table, designed by Sigurd Resell in 1971, is an elegant and functional piece of furniture that fits perfectly beside a sofa or as a standalone element in the room.

With legs in chrome-plated steel, the side table features a light yet solid construction that combines an industrial expression with modern elegance. The 12 mm thick tempered glass tabletop ensures durability and style, allowing the geometric form to stand out clearly. The transparent glass creates an airy feel, making the table a perfect choice for both small and large spaces. The Tube side table is a functional design icon that brings a touch of Scandinavian design history to any interior.

Sigurd Resell

Sigurd Resell (1920–2010) was born in Meldal, Trøndelag, and developed an early interest in construction and craftsmanship. After a brief apprenticeship with a local carpenter during his youth, he was encouraged to apply to the Norwegian National Academy of Craft and Art Industry in Oslo, where he began his studies in furniture design at the Wood Department in 1943.

In 1968, Vatne Lenestolfabrikk, a prominent Norwegian furniture manufacturer, lost its designer Fredrik Kayser, who passed away unexpectedly. Resell stepped into the role and began a collaboration that would result in several iconic pieces of furniture.

Resell’s ability to unite tradition and modernity is particularly evident in the design of our own Tube Chair, which balances comfort with a minimalist expression. He continued to work with Vatne throughout the 1970s and 1980s, producing a wide range of furniture that exemplifies his philosophy of timeless design.
