Tube Sofa Table

1971, Norway

Designed by Sigurd Resell in 1971, the Tube coffee table is a timeless piece, defined by its elegant style, clean lines, and harmonious proportions.

The table’s legs are made of chrome-plated steel, giving it a modern, industrial touch while balancing lightness and stability. The 12 mm thick tempered glass top adds a sophisticated look while remaining durable and practical. The transparent glass allows the table’s geometric lines and proportions to shine, creating an airy and open feel in the room.

The Tube coffee table is an iconic example of Norwegian design from the 1970s and represents an investment in a piece of furniture that is both aesthetically beautiful and functional. It is not just a table, but a piece of Norwegian design history—a timeless classic that fits seamlessly into most homes.

The coffee table is a natural extension of the Tube side table.

Sigurd Resell

Sigurd Resell (1920–2010) was born in Meldal, Trøndelag, and developed an early interest in construction and craftsmanship. After a brief apprenticeship with a local carpenter during his youth, he was encouraged to apply to the Norwegian National Academy of Craft and Art Industry in Oslo, where he began studying furniture design in the Wood Department in 1943.

In 1968, Vatne Lenestolfabrikk, a prominent Norwegian furniture manufacturer, lost its designer Fredrik Kayser, who passed away unexpectedly. Resell stepped into the role and began a collaboration that would result in several iconic pieces of furniture.

Resell’s ability to unite tradition and modernity is particularly evident in the design of our own Tube Chair, which balances comfort with a minimalist expression. He continued to work with Vatne throughout the 1970s and 1980s, producing a wide range of furniture that exemplifies his philosophy of timeless design.
