The Matre Pillows are made using Matre’s signature Stripe textile – a bold, woven fabric developed in Norway by Elizabeth Matre-Aas in collaboration with textile designer Saga Nilsson from Innvik. The fabric is characterized by its rhythmic stripes and tactile depth, offering a strong visual identity that fits seamlessly into a wide range of interiors.
Each pillow is hand-sewn by Moving Mamas, a social enterprise that empowers immigrant women through meaningful work and training. The pillows come in two sizes – a classic square and a longer rectangular format – and are filled to provide both comfort and support. Whether placed on a sofa, chair, or bed, they bring lasting comfort, character, and purpose to everyday spaces.
To maintain the quality and appearance of your Matre Pillow:
- Spot clean with a damp cloth and mild detergent.
- Do not machine wash or tumble dry.
- Avoid bleach and harsh chemicals.
- Air dry flat, away from direct sunlight.
- If needed, gently steam or iron on low heat with a cloth between the iron and fabric.
As the cushion is made from a woven textile, some pilling may occur with use;- this can be carefully removed with a fabric shaver.
